As we head deeper into the summer, the 2024 high school football season is quickly approaching. With that being said, I wanted to take the next week to focus on some under the radar players in the upcoming junior class at each position. These players include those who fall just outside the top five at their positions and don’t currently hold any offers. After already covering the offensive side of the ball, I will now turn my attention to the defensive side of the ball, starting with some 2026 defensive linemen to keep an eye on in the state of Missouri!

Marcel Reed Marcel Reed 6'1" | 305 lbs | DL Hazelwood Central | 2026 State MO is a defensive lineman who caught my attention this past season. He lined up at defensive tackle where he was impressive as a pass rusher. Reed is able to use his speed to blow by opposing offensive linemen on his way to the quarterback. He finished this past season with three sacks and several quarterback pressures. Marcel also showed the ability to stop the run, finishing the year with 27 tackles and nine tackles for loss. Reed has received some college interest and I expect him to be a player to continued to watch heading into his junior year.

Xavier Gammon Xavier Gammon 6'2" | 225 lbs | DL Blue Springs South | 2026 State MO is a defensive lineman who stood out to me when breaking down sophom*ore year film. Gammon lines up at defensive end where he is very impressive against the run. He plays with a high motor and has shown the ability to use his speed to get to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackle in the open field. Gammon is also reliable as a pass rusher, showing the ability to shoot gaps with a sense of urgency before opposing offensive linemen can react. Xavier hasn’t reported any college interest but he is a player who coaches should keep an eye on this season.

Romie Still Romie Still 6'4" | 230 lbs | DL North Kansas City | 2026 State MO is another defensive end who stood out to me when evaluating sophom*ore year film. Still is a very dangerous pass rusher off the edge. He is able to use his explosiveness out of his stance and speed to blow by opposing offensive tackles on his way to the quarterback. Still is also reliable against the run, showing the ability to fight through blocks and get to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackle. Romie hasn’t reported any college interest but should be a player to keep an eye on over the next two seasons.

My final 2026 under the radar defensive lineman to watch in the state of Missouri is Jonah Were Jonah Were 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Park Hill | 2026 State MO . Jonah lines up at defensive end where he is very impressive as a pass rusher. He has shown the ability to use his bend and speed to get around opposing offensive tackles with ease then does a great job of finishing at the quarterback once he gets there. Were is also impressive against the run, showing the ability to run sideline to sideline to make tackles in the open field. Jonah has received a little college interest and I expect him to be a player to continued to watch over the next couple seasons.
