You'll get to take out a bunch of the conspirators in this sequence, as well as gaining some nice new tools like the poison blade and smoke bombs. After you talk with your uncle, multiple memories will open up all at the same time, and you can do them in any order. The cowl does not make the monk is suggested as your first stop, since you can acquire the smoke bombs there which may be helpful on the other memories.

Four to the floor[edit | edit source]

  • Memory start: Talk to Lorenzo de' Medici on a bridge in the south of the San Giovanni district.
  • Reward: Codex page, Beat up events unlocked, Courier assignments unlocked, Assassination contracts unlocked

The DNA sequence begins on a bridge with Lorenzo across from you. Go talk to him and you'll get the names of the members of the contspiracy – your next targets. Lorenzo will also give you another encrypted Codex page.

A blade with bite[edit | edit source]

  • Memory start: Knock on the door to Leonardo's workshop.
  • Reward: Poison Blade acquired

This time Leonardo will upgrade your Hidden Blade to hold poison. Now you have another option for when you want a death to look like an accident. Sometimes it's important that no one suspects a target of being murdered, in which case you'll need to either push the person off a high ledge or poison them. The poison has five uses, and when you run out you can restock at a doctor for 175ƒ per vial.

Evasive maneuvers[edit | edit source]

  • Memory start: Talk to your uncle Mario in the Codex page room at your villa in Monterrigioni.
  • Reward: Dodge skill, Disarm skill

When you talk to your uncle, you'll let him know you have a list of Jacopo de' Pazzi's co-conspirators, as well as another deciphered Codex page. When you're done talking, accept the mission and you'll end up outside at the training circle where Mario will show you some new moves. Lock onto him and perform three dodges and three disarms by following the on-screen instructions.

The cowl does not make the monk[edit | edit source]

  • Memory start: Talk to the soldier in front of the Monte Oliveto Maggiore in the southeast corner of Tuscany.
  • Reward: 1,500ƒ, Smoke bomb pouch

The soldier will point you in the direction of the abbey where Stefano da Bagnone is hiding and he'll give you some smoke bombs. You can equip the smoke bombs from the weapon selector wheel, and you can hold up to three at a time. Using a bomb will stun any guards around you, giving you time to either escape or kill them. The smoke bombs can help you complete assassinations by stunning your target before he can run away or be protected, and they are indispensable when it comes to easily achieving some of the combat achievements and trophies. You can refill your smoke bombs at a blacksmith for 350ƒ per bomb.

Head up the steps behind the soldier to the abbey, but be aware that it is a restricted zone, so don't let the guards see you inside. You can use eagle vision to see which of the monks are really guards in disguise, but it's unnecessary as the swords they carry give them away. Mix in with the group of monks that come to the eastern entryway in the northern wall (the side of the abbey with the soldier who gives you the mission). Walk with this group inside, then join the group they come right next to that are stationary in the middle of the path. With eagle vision you'll be able to spot the target, who walks around and talks with a friend along the far walls. You can keep going from cover to cover and maybe hide in the hay cart or otherwise get close to da Bagnone, but it's easiest to just stay where you are and assassinate him and his friend when he walks right up to the group of monks you're hiding within. The game suggests you use a smoke bomb to escape unnoticed, but if you just run out where you came in and jump on your horse, you'll be able to quickly outdistance the pursuit, which ends the memory.

Behind closed doors[edit | edit source]

  • Memory start: Talk to the soldier at the small buildings just outside the southern walls of Villa Salviati in the northeast corner of Tuscany.
  • Reward: 1,500ƒ

You'll start the memory in the southeast corner of a restricted area with a group of mercenaries and the task of getting inside to take out Francesco Salviati. You can go around fighting with your guys, but it's quicker to just hop over the eastern wall from a nearby roof without waiting for them at all. When you get over the wall, climb up to the roof of the villa, where you'll have a bird's eye view of the guards below, the mechanism to open the gate in the southwest corner of the grounds and your target at ground level walking around with a huge axe and a couple guards. You're supposed to go down and open the gate for your buddies, but it's much easier to just kill Francesco yourself.

Head over to the west side of the roof and air assassinate the two stationary guards below when the three roving guards walk away from them. From there, perch atop the ledge they were looking over and air assassinate Francesco when he's beneath you. To pull this off, watch the men on the ground so you know if the target will be in position before the three guards come back after you air assassinate the other two. Whether you pulled it off solo or opened the gates for your buddies, the gate will now be open and they'll come in to fight with you. If you just want to get out of there, jump on the horse next to the nearby haystack and gallop out the front gate. When you are a fair distance away, get off your horse and take out the two pursuit guards that follow you to end the memory. Your other option is to stay with your allies and finish off the soldiers until you become incognito again.

Come out and play[edit | edit source]

  • Memory start: Talk to the soldier in front of a small church on the west side of the San Gimignano.
  • Reward: 2,500ƒ

Head due west to the green circle on your map to start looking for Bernardo Baroncelli. You'll find that the area is blocked off by soldiers and your target is walking around the area followed by a couple personal guards. An easy way to get in is to jump into the hay cart from the roofs on the east side of the area. From there, hop over the wall behind the cart and mix in with the group of people standing there. Once you're down on the level where he's walking around, you'll have plenty of options. He walks right next to the group your standing in for one, or you could go hide in the well when he's not looking for a stealth assassination from hiding. If you do alert him, he'll run down the stairs to the south which are guarded by soldiers. If you need to chase him, free run up the boxes on the left and use the beams and poles along the wall to quickly catch up to him. Once you've taken him out, become incognito again if necessary and the memory ends.

Town crier[edit | edit source]

  • Memory start: Talk to the soldier in front of the Santa Maria Assunta in the middle of San Gimignano.
  • Reward: Letters from Jocopo de' Pazzi and Antonio Maffei

From where the memory start, look northeast and you can see the tower where Antonio Maffei is hiding – the one with the wooden platform going around it near the top. There's not a direct route up the tower, so you'll have to climb another one and get across at a higher point. You should see some wires going across to the tower you want from the shorter tower just south of it. Head to that one and climb up to those wires by starting on the same side as them, then circling the tower clockwise as you climb until you end up back on the northern face just above the wires. When the archers above you aren't looking, run across the wires and quickly climb up and shimmy around to the other side of the tower to lose their attention. When you have no alert warnings, climb up and back over to the south face and continue up to the wooden platform. Stealth assassinate the guard walking around up there, then either wait for the target to hop down from the top of the tower, or climb the ladder up to him on the eastern side. Assassinate him to recover the letters and end the memory.

With friends like these[edit | edit source]

  • Memory start: Enter the marker on the roof at the southern base of the Torri Dei Salvucci in the middle of San Gimignano.
  • Reward: 1,500ƒ

Your job is tail Jacopo de' Pazzi to the Templar meeting with the "Maestro". When the mission starts, use eagle vision to spot the target and do a leap of faith off the roof to start following him. Like other following missions, stay close enough to keep him in sight, but not close enough to alert him. If you lose line of sight with him, you'll have 25 seconds to reacquire it. As he walks through the city and out the southern gate, a guard will fall in with him as well. When he gets to the southern gate, hire the nearby mercenaries and sic them on the guards at the gate to distract them. Alternatively, you could climb the ladder next to the gate and regain sight of them from atop the wall before continuing to follow them.

When you get outside, Jacopo will head north along the western wall of the city, collecting many more guards along the way. Stay well back from him, and let him and the guards go down into the Antico Teatro Romano amphitheater. When they've all made their way down, use either the mercenaries if they're still with you, or the nearby thieves to distract the one remaining guard at the top of the stairs. Instead of following the target down the stairs, stay above them to the left and hop over the walls into the amphitheater, where you'll see a white marker at the top of the slope leading down to the meeting. Enter the marker to trigger a cut scene where the Maestro stabs your target. It's a trap, and you're nabbed by some soldiers, but you have the opportunity for a quick time event if you press the armed hand button while the guards are holding you. When you regain control, run over to Jacopo and put him out of his misery with your hidden blade, then hop a wall and run outside the alert circle to regain your incognito status and end the sequence.
